Brands, like people, need to evolve. I started Already There® the moment I sold my map company (A better idea would be to sit in the empty space between projects). We've sold out version III of the journal, about 1,000 journals for this last run. That probably sounds like a lot to those who haven't run a product company but it is actually not enough to warrant the overhead. Out of this last run, I got a US Trademark and clarity and how this brand can evolve.
I'm now working on a re-brand centered around the concept: "Mindfulness.. but make it fun". I hired someone locally to help me manage a new invention I’m prototyping . Stay tuned, and reply back about what you'd like to learn about the process. What's your biggest question about building a product brand?
Watch: Orangutan school. If you are a 90s kid like me, you may remember being mesmerized by national geographic documentaries on your 100lb TV console. (If you're as weird as me, maybe you turned yourself upside down on the couch after and pretended to walk around the roof of your house like the world was upside down 🤷🏾♂️). This delightful show brought me back to those grade school years. Watch episode one to wrap up your day and fall into dreams about orangutan dramas.
Creativity is spiritual. Learning to listen. I'm assuming a number of you who are reading this are active creators. I'm always reminding myself that the process of making, is the gift, and the result, is the artifact. When you approach it like this and tune your energy to listen, you get clues when you're in the right direction. If you listen and surrender, you can get a magic feeling of transmissions guiding you.
This will go over some people's heads and for others, there is an exciting tickle of a memory where you've felt this (give me a heart, and I will explore this concept more).
To try: If you want to explore, take a paper and draw. Instead of trying to make something, listen what your hand wants to make and be open to being surprised. You can try this perspective shift while writing, dancing, playing an instrument or walking around a neighborhood.
Here is a beautiful underground remake of this classic tune to close out. Less than 30,000 listens. Enjoy!
resonates on so many levels: Instead of trying to make something, listen what your hand wants to make and be open to being surprised. You can try this perspective shift while writing, dancing, playing an instrument or walking around a neighborhood.
