Spotify Hack, Charles Simic, Earthy Deodorant and Calendar Events
Music: Is your Spotify discover weekly getting too predictable? I realized about a year ago that you could follow someone else’s discover weekly. I follow my friend Michelle’s and listen to it when I need a change from mine. She has no idea I’m sharing this….
Poetry: Charles Simic has been a favorite poet since college, and he passed away this January. His work is deep, with a sense of humor. I shared this poem on my facebook six years ago https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/02/06/the-infinite. Here is an even shorter one showing what he could do with so little. https://poets.org/poem/watermelons
Odor Confession: I don’t use regular deodorant anymore. I met the founder of PiperWai in NY and made the switch last year. The branding is feminine but I find the scent to be “an earthy unisex”. You’re welcome!
Predictions: 5 years year ago I was sitting at Flat Track Coffee in Austin, TX with my friend Brent Underwood (who is now ghost town famous). We made predictions about the future of Austin and set a note on our calendar to revisit. This week was the maturity date. We were wrong about one and right about one. If you get a free moment, I recommend practicing your crystal ball muscles. Write a future prediction put it in your calendar as an event.
Recurring Calendar Events: On the topic of calendar events, I have a recurring event ever quarter to do a weekend retreat to “get away and check in”. I never regret taking the time when I follow through. Here are a few photos I shared from my sketchbook on instagram
