When to wear your favorite shirt, the power of symbols, the #1 best instagram account and brand building progress
If you’re considering creating content, I highly recommend a bi-weekly schedule. It’s very doable. A week goes by too fast, and a month is too long. Two weeks is enough time to go from a new moon, to a full moon. Two weeks might seem irregular. But. Our calendar is made up anyway by a guy named Greg, with a cool shawl and a matching beanie.
🖨️ 3D Printing Molds | This week on Already There, we worked with a local 3D designer to start outlining the shape of our product and create a plastic mold that we’ll eventually pour smoldering brass into. You can see the office above with views of the mountains. The place had exciting experimental energy to it and reminded me of obsessively building things with k’nex as an 8 year old.
🔣 Importance of symbols | This is completely inappropriate to share at this point, but I want to take you along for the ride of building a brand: Here is an early draft of the logo we made for Already There below. It totally hits the concept of “mindfulness… but make it fun”.
The cursive lines are like paths that take you between solid letters that act as a structure. It feels symbolic to me of our life journeys - feeling solid at times, then twisting and winding around until we get to another point of structure. We try to obscure the twists, make them invisible, but they’re as much part of the paths as the solid letters.
Symbols are important. They hold meaning and energy. Almost every ancient culture had meaning-packed symbols that they put into everyday objects. The Cross, Star of David, and to get incredibly esoteric, the Lithuanian World Tree.
We infuse symbols with meaning through stories and experiences. Any image can be made special through story.
Maybe my few sentences above about the cursive in the logo helped you connect with what I’m aiming to create.
👕 When to wear your favorite shirt. Some days I see a favorite shirt in the closet, clean and waiting for me, and I decide not to wear it. Today is not good enough. F** you favorite shirt. I want to save you for something special. Sometimes I have ideas that totally blow my mind in the moment, and I decide not to share them - I want to stash them away until they can go into a special place.
This blocks flow. It limits what can come next.
Wear your favorite shirt today! Or any day it fits the situation. Every day is special. Your favorite shirt is an expression of the moment and that moment will change. Create space to evolve into new favorites.
Take the good stuff out of the closet. Express your ideas in any format that’s available to you.
Holding back is a subtle act of scarcity.
Your ideas will develop. You will have more ideas and more favorite shirts. I promise.
👔 How to start a product business - I’m still putting together a guide and how to start a product business. A few things I plan to cover is: deciding to start, research, importance of distribution, manufacturing, margin and fulfillment. Anything else you’d like to know, feel free to reply.
🏆 The #1 Best Instagram Account. It’s dust-to-digital. Don’t even argue with me. Especially these user submitted video collections. To tie back to symbols and culture - the next century will be the fusion, amalgamation and occasional alchemy of disparate cultures that took one hundred times as long to develop. Check out this Irish x Iraqi wedding.
I wore my favorite shirt today! 🫡❤️👍🏻
